Now that Cyril Ramaphosa is president of the ANC and the country, it seems likely that the government will do more than pay lip-service to the National Development Plan finalised in 2012 but barely implemented in any substantive way by subsequent Zuma-led governments. However, the NDP is far from a perfect document, as I pointed out in comments I made in a piece published in 2013<\/a> – most of which remain as pertinent now as they did then. These comments cover the public service and education chapters of the NDP. Later this year I will write something about South African economic policy in general, which will address the (somewhat problematic) NDP chapter on that topic.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
